Just to be clear, I am horrible about talking about myself. Now that I’ve told you one secret (you can’t tell anyone!), it’s time to lay out a few more…
I’m Brittney and I’m a wife, mother, student, birth doula, daycare owner, creative, and anything else I choose to be. I’m the wife to Mike and the mother of Gwendalyn and Abigail, my two beautiful girls and Jirard, my handsome baby son.
I have a bachelors degree in health education from Truman State University. I spent my first year after graduating working various jobs such as a groomer at Pet Smart, server at Pizza Fusion, and cake decorator at Wal-Mart. I worked full time for a fantastic company for 7 and a half years and absolutely loved the people I worked with. During the first 2 years of our first daughters life, I felt I was missing watching my daughter learn and grow. I was missing being there for her in times of need. During my pregnancy with our second, my husband and I discussed the opportunity in front of us to have our children grow up with their mama home. Thus I opened a home daycare called Inquiring Minds Daycare.
You might be wondering why I’m telling you about my daycare! I love being home with my kiddos, helping them and the others I care for grow. It is challenging and rewarding. But again, (secret sharing time) something is missing for me.
During my three pregnancies and births, I learned there is so much information out there about birth and not all of it is accurate. I learned that no matter how much research I did to prepare for labor, there is absolutely no way I could have done it without the love and support of my birth team. I learned that I have a passion for pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and the woman taking that journey. I learned that helping others in their birth journey feeds my soul.
Women should be there to encourage and support each other on their journey through life. No matter your decisions, I will be there for you. I will hold your hand and give you the love and care you need.
