Belly Binding

Our belly binding is based on the traditional Malaysian Bengkung belly binding method. It is an ancient, traditional, natural way of speeding the healing process after birth during your postpartum period. Belly binding is the use of a long strip of fabric that is wrapped around the abdomen as soon as possible after birth, ideally by day 5 for a vaginal birth and around 2-6 weeks after a cesarean section, for up to 40 or more days as needed. It ensures your womb, muscles and other organs are supported. Unlike most Western bindings, the Bengkung belly binding style is customizable to your body’s size as it shrinks back to its pre-pregnancy size.

Benefits Include:

  • Assists in abdominal wall retraction. (Diastasis Recti)
  • Supports the womb after birth and speeds the process of contraction (hips closing).
  • Assists with c-section healing.
  • Supports spine and posture realignment.
  • Provides back support
  • Helps you get back to your pre-pregnant shape.
  • Improves circulation.
  • Breaks down fat and cellulite.
  • Accelerates fat burning.
  • Relieves water retention.
  • Supports the pelvic floor.
  • It feels good.

For Best Results

Women should be wrapped as soon they can after birth, ideally by day five postpartum. The belly bind should be worn daily for 10-12 hours a day for at least 40 days or longer. Often women who use a belly bind after birth return to their own pre-pregnancy size in 6-8 weeks.

Had a cesarean birth? Women should wait at least 2-3 weeks until the incision is mostly healed before they are wrapped.
